Communication Officer (Professional) – Koror, Palau

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Communication Officer to support its North Pacific Coordination Office based in Koror, Palau. The role will contribute to IOM’s mission of promoting humane and orderly migration by delivering communication strategies that raise awareness, inform stakeholders, and showcase program impacts across the Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication plans for disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and migration initiatives.
• Produce written and visual content (press releases, newsletters, social media posts, briefing notes) for internal and external audiences.
• Maintain relationships with media, government partners, NGOs, and community groups to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information.
• Support the organization of events, workshops, and outreach activities.
• Monitor media coverage and provide analysis to inform program adjustments.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in international development, humanitarian, or migration contexts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and adapt messages to varied cultural contexts.
